The BorderW, 7.30pmThis new Canadian crime series gets off to a gripping start when a wanted terrorist saunters off a plane at Toronto's international airport and a bunch of law-enforcement types scramble to separate him from passengers so nobody gets hurt. Suddenly, though, he hands something to a passenger who wasn't on the authorities' radar. Who is this other guy? Who is everybody else? Canadian intelligence and the US State Department of Homeland Security conspire to have the mystery man, a Canadian citizen of Middle-Eastern descent, flown to Syria to be tortured. Customs major Mike Kessler (James McGowan) makes it his mission to find out whether the Canadian really is a terrorist and, if possible, to get him back to Canada. A slick production with a peculiar Canadian quality of feeling a little British and a little American.Anthony Bourdain:No ReservationsDiscovery Travel & Living, 9.30pmLet's hope New York chef Anthony Bourdain had his cholesterol checked when he got back from Chicago. Bourdain is in the Windy City to check out the local food scene, starting from street level and working his way to the high-end. All of Chicago's delicacies are circulatory Spakfilla. Tamales are big in Chicago, Bourdain finds, and they're commonly served in hot dog buns with cheese and chilli con carne. Bourdain also tries a "foie gras dog" with truffle mustard and a side of chips fried in duck fat. Burp.
